As part of the evolving ‘Regen Coordination’, CeloPG is excited to be collaborating with Gitcoin, ReFi DAO, GreenPill Network, Let's Grow DAO, The BioFi Project, OpenCivics and others to bring two groundbreaking rounds for Gitcoin Grants Round 22 (GG22) on the Celo blockchain: the Regen Citizens Genesis Round and the BioFi Pathfinders Round.

Driving Regenerative Innovation with Celo
Since its launch, Celo has been on a mission to create conditions of prosperity for all. The Celo community believe that decentralized technologies like blockchain can play a transformative role in addressing critical challenges in finance, social justice, and environmental regeneration. With GG22, CeloPG is continuing our commitment to fostering real-world change by supporting two key initiatives that focus on regenerative community-building and bioregional finance.
Regen Citizens Genesis Round 🌍
The Regen Citizens Genesis Round, a joint initiative between GreenPill Network, ReFi DAO, Let’s Grow DAO, and Celo Public Goods, aims to recognize and empower key contributors within these communities and the wider regenerative movement on Ethereum. Through this round, we aim to honor those actively making a difference in creating decentralized regenerative communities and infrastructure. This round will highlight the efforts of teams building the Web3 infrastructure needed for regenerative economies to flourish.
Key details for the round:
- Eligibility: Only citizens nominated by core or guest organizations are eligible to apply.
- Nominations: Core organizations will nominate 13 citizens from their communities. 8 additional guest organizations will also be invited into the round to nominate further citizens from across the regenerative movement.
BioFi Pathfinders Round 🌱
The Bioregional Finance (BioFi) Pathfinders Round is a partnership between The BioFi Project, Open Civics, The Design School for Regenerating Earth, and Regen Coordi-Nation to support the most sophisticated Bioregional Organizing Teams around the world in developing, clarifying, and enhancing their BioFi vision, strategy, and capabilities. This invite-only round is aimed at advanced teams that are already practicing or actively developing their approach to Bioregional Finance (BioFi), with a focus on building Bioregional Financing Facilities (BFFs) or bioregional funding ecosystems more broadly.
Key details for the round:
- Goals: The round aims to create pathways for decentralized, place-based financial governance that drives the transition to regenerative economies.
- Eligibility: Teams that are already demonstrating a coherent bioregional identity, a deep connection to place, and strong financial practices to support bioregional regeneration initiatives will be eligible to apply after receiving an invitation.
Quadratic Funding and Celo Support
Both rounds will leverage Gitcoin’s Quadratic Funding model, where community donations act as votes to determine the allocation of matching funds. The broader the support for a project, the more matching funds it will receive. This mechanism amplifies the impact of smaller donations, ensuring that projects with wide community backing gain more resources. In addition, Celo Public Goods Stewards will be actively participating in boosting the most compelling projects.
