Celo Citizen Retro Results

Organized by CeloPG, the Celo Citizen Retro program was the first program dedicated to rewarding individuals for their meaningful contributions to the Celo ecosystem. The program's first phase distributes 200,000 CELO to over 180 individual Celo contributors based on their contributions to Research & Development, Governance, and Community & Adoption.

Round Operations
‍Applications for Celo Citizen Retro opened on December 20th. A total of 247 applications were submitted. After filtering out duplicates, spam, and applications not meeting the inclusion criteria, 182 individual applications were approved for the review and vote stage.

In the voting stage, CeloPG Stewards and individual Celo Delegates with at least 1,000 CELO delegated could review and vote on applications. 18 people were invited to vote in the Celo Citizen Round, 13 of whom cast their votes. The voters collaborated closely on creating shared review rubrics, tagging applications, and sharing perspectives to improve the quality of each voter's assessment. The final vote outcome was checked and validated, resulting in the results below.

Seeing hundreds of Celo Contributors from nearly 50+ countries apply for this round was profoundly inspiring and insightful. It’s clear that many people care about and contribute to Celo!

Based on the voting results, the minimal value of CELO received by any approved application is 217 CELO, with the highest reward being 4113 CELO. The median Citizen reward in this round is  1,183 CELO, close to the average of 1098, showing a curve slightly more toward the right side than a normal distribution. 

This shows that all contributions to Celo are valued and matter.

The Top Citizens
When analyzing the top recipients of the Celo Citizen Retro, a clear pattern emerges: individuals who contribute to the Celo Ecosystem in multiple ways are rewarded most.

Each of the top 10 recipients is actively involved in building products and operating programs on Celo (R&D). They also participate in Celo Governance through the forum, and 70% are activated delegates (Governance). Finally, each of them specified ways in which they supported the development and adoption of the Celo community. Being a top Celo Citizen means helping out and providing value anywhere possible!

We congratulate all Citizens who participated in this first Celo Citizen Round for their efforts in growing the Celo Ecosystem and for providing as much information as possible on their impact. Together, we can realize Celo's vision to build a digital regenerative economy!

The Celo Citizen Retro EasyRPGF Votes is the first in many Celo Citizen reward programs. In the following weeks, we’ll launch our next program, which will reward Celo Citizens based on their onchain activities on Celo with a share of up to 50,000 CELO using the soon-to-be-launched Prosperity Account developed by CeloPG.
